1992HSD is a human resource outsourcing company that was founded by Deborah Dwyer, its current president. Deborah first started the business with one employee and a fax machine. Since then, the company has grown to a team of resources including 4 data management specialists, 12 expert phone interviewers, 2 client services consultants, and 2 senior organizational development resources, and 2 on the administrative services team.
HSD’s purpose at the foundation of the company was to measure the health of an organization to achieve high performance and high involvement (now the common term is engagement!). 1992 also signified the year in which HSD’s proprietary software was developed by Deb Dwyer’s father, who had retired as the chief engineer at Delphi. Within just one year, HSD had completed three major surveys in the building and paper industries.
That same year, a retention project team was led by Deborah Dwyer for an electronic publishing company. This study involved conducting interviews with former employees to better understand the barriers that women and minorities had regarding upward movement in the company. Ten years later this study became the main inspiration for HSD’s Exit Interview service, ExitRight. During the first ten years of HSD, Deb was designing and facilitating hundreds of training sessions and workshops to enhance leader effectiveness and improve team performance.
1993Benchmarking of survey data began with HSD’s first employee survey. In their second year of business they launched the design and implementation of their proprietary software system for employee satisfaction surveys. At this time all surveys were completed on paper while HSD resources actually gathered the data.
1996An external database of norms for employee survey question items was created due to the number of employee survey responses HSD had gathered. With over 725,000 collected respondents, this database continues to grow annually. Since HSD continues to house this data for their clients, they are able to provide an extensive library of questions along with intuitive benchmarks.
1998HSD released their 360-Degree Feedback tool, which focuses on identifying strengths and development opportunities for managers and employees. These opportunities are based on the feedback of peers, leaders, and subordinates. This unique 360-Degree Feedback tool is based on a common set of customized questions that match the organization’s business values and strategies.
2001HSD’s first web-based organizational effectiveness survey was launched.
2002The introduction of ExitRight®, HSD’s proprietary exit interview software, allowed the company to extend their metric offerings to include employee retention. Now, 155,000 exit interviews later – HSD is widely recognized as the leading exit interview company that provides multiple platforms for completing interviews and extensive benchmarks.
HSD transitioned to providing web-based services across the entire scope of their offerings.
HSD launched its first web portal in order to provide clients with instant reporting information on exit interview findings. After this advancement, exit interview findings became available to clients online with 24/7 access. The www.exitrightnow.com reporting tool has continued to expand its features with access to full interview contents, filtered data, instant red flag notification on ethical/legal matters, download features, anonymity options, external benchmarks, and a vast array of data sets that can be aligned with the client’s unique organizational structure.
The knowledge acquired from the exitrightnow.com web portal was than expanded to HSD’s employee survey services. No longer would clients using HSD’s employee surveys have to wait for a report. Due to this, www.surveyrightnow.com allowed clients instantaneous access to data population once a survey has been completed.
2011HSD introduced ReferenceRight®, a product that gathers references quickly with instant reporting and helps HR departments expedite reference gathering and reporting on an applicant’s previous work experience and performance.
HSD Metrics invests in business intelligence technology to enable HSD’s data reporting team to embed broader and more compelling data visualizations of survey and turnover on their client web portal reporting sites.
Additional web-based exit interview notification methods are offered approach to enable exit interviews to be completed before or after the last day of work thereby resulting in higher contact rates and lower costs for clients.
Since the company’s 1992 launch, HSD has executed work and human resource outsourcing for over 650 organizations with most employing 5,000 or more employees. From entering the organization to exiting, HSD’s reporting metrics are provided to improve organizational performance and employee retention. With a current focus on the latest technology, HSD is passionate about and dedicated to their customers and continued innovation of their multi-survey platform of products.
From day one HSD has strongly believed their offerings of quality and support, alongside their proprietary software would be the key to setting them apart from their competition. They are proud to support their customers with interviews and surveys that cover the full spectrum of an organization’s health.
